International Bible Institute

The International Bible Institute offers serious Bible students an opportunity to advance their knowledge of the Scriptures through advanced guided studies. It is our goal to offer biblical studies to preachers and church leaders who desire a greater understanding of the word of God in order to equip themselves for a more effective Christian life.

The International Bible Institute is an exciting approach to challenge sincere church leaders throughout the world. The Institute is challenging because advanced courses are sent out to Bible students who are seeking university level studies in the word of God. The Institute, therefore, is an exciting opportunity for preachers and teachers of the Bible in any country of the world who aspire to receive challenging biblical studies that are sponsored by the church. It is our desire to offer sincere students the greatest opportunity possible for advanced studies in the Bible.

OUR BIBLICAL FOCUS

The purpose of the Institute is based on the biblical mandate of the apostle Peter,

"Grow in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:18.)

According to Paul, spiritual growth is necessary in order that church leaders be able to accomplish the work of building up the church through . . .

". . . the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, until we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, to a complete man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of teaching ..." (Ephesians 4:12-17).

It is our purpose as a work of the church and Bible distance training school to build up the body of Christ. We desire to enhance the life of those who love God's word by offering an opportunity to study the Bible as the source of faith to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus.

Spiritual growth leads to numerical growth. As teachers of God's word, we seek to empower every Christian with the mandate of Jesus Christ to communicate the goods news to the world.

"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15).

The International Bible Institute seeks to better the world by training faithful men to touch the lives of those who will also be able to teach others. Students of the Institute, therefore, are encouraged to work according to the mandate by which Paul charged Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2.

"And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, the same commit to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."

EXTENSION EDUCATION

The International Bible Institute is a nonresident school. In other words, the classroom studies are taken to the students through the extension courses that are posted to students. By use of textbooks, study manuals, and systematic testing, the Institute incorporates proven standards of study that have been effectively used for many years by distance training schools throughout the world.

Since the courses are the "teachers" in the program, upon graduation the student has received from the Institute over 10,000 pages of teaching materials for future teaching of God's word. Through this proven systematic process of course studies and assessments, each course directs the student through a program of effective learning and application of biblical principles in order that the student reach his maximum potential as a servant of God.

Course Materials

In order for one to graduate from the Institute, he must complete thirty-five courses of undergraduate studies in the Diploma Program. For each completed course, a "Course Certificate" is given in order to recognize successful completion of individual courses, as well as, notify the student concerning his score for each course. In order to graduate from the Advanced Diploma Program, students must complete an additional fifteen courses, for a total of fifty courses for graduation from the entire curriculum of studies.

Course Posting and Requirements

Courses are posted to the student both by air mail and surface (land) mail. Most of the courses are mailed to students in packets containing several courses. Once courses are received, studies and tests are completed according to the enclosed instructions that come with the Study Manuals of the courses.

GRADUATION

Before receiving credit for any course, each course must be passed with a score of no less than 70%. In order to graduate from any level of studies, the combined score of all Final Tests for the courses that represent the required credit hours must average 80% or above. Only after all Final Tests of courses representing the required credit hours have been received and graded by the Institute staff, and the average score meets the Institutes requirements, will students be eligible for graduation. If a student's average score is below the required 80% average, he may retake any Final Test in order to bring the Final Test average to the required percentage for graduation.

After one successfully completes thirty-five courses, he is awarded a Diploma in Biblical Studies for his studies in the Institute. An Advanced Diploma in Biblical Studies is issued to students who complete all requirements for graduation from the fifty courses program.

CURRICULUM

The courses of the curriculum require the use of a moderator for completing Study Manuals. Along with the materials of these courses, a Moderator's Envelope is sent which contains the correct answers for study manual self-tests.

Moderators check the student's answers with the Institute-supplied correct answers in the Moderator's Envelope, and oversee the student's completion of Moderated Final Tests. Every student is required to designate a moderator.

If one successfully completes thirty-five courses of the diploma level of undergraduate studies, he is eligible for continued studies in the Advanced Diploma Program of the Institute. As the Institute develops in the years to come, there will be new courses added to the curriculum.

EDUCATIONAL INTEGRITY

As a distance training school for the purpose of educating religious leaders, the Institute is registered with the Board of Education in the State of Louisiana, USA. It is believed that the quality of the Institute's program should be determined by godly men who seek to offer the highest quality of disciplined distance training in biblical studies. As a work of the church to train leaders, the Institute seeks to focus on our biblical mandate to train faithful leaders who will be able to teach others. As a Bible school, therefore, we offer an organized curriculum of educational studies in one major textbook, the Bible. Since all schools have the right to graduate those who successfully complete the requirements of a selected school curriculum, we thus graduate those students who have been assessed to have successfully completed all requirements to complete the biblical study program of the Institute.

ENROLLMENT

Qualified Students

Because of the challenging content of the courses of the Institute, there are three areas of personal spiritual qualities that must be characteristic with each student. Students must be mature, disciplined and sacrificially committed to the study and teaching of the Bible. Mature students will approach their studies with great seriousness. Disciplined students will continue their studies until they graduate from the Institute. Sacrificially committed students will apply what they learn to their own lives. They will also teach what they have learned to others.

Any individual who feels he meets these qualifications is encouraged to seek enrollment in the Institute.

Enrollment Procedures

Every prospective student must write a Letter of Application to the Institute. This letter must include as much information as possible about the student and his ministry with the church. When this letter is received, the Institute Catalog is posted to the applicant with an attached Application for Enrollment. This application must be detached from the Catalog, completed and returned to the Institute.

With the applicant's Letter of Application and Application for Enrollment in hand, the Enrollment Staff will then make a decision as to whether an applicant is qualified for enrollment.

No application will be accepted for consideration without the recommendation from two people, as well as, the required information of a student's proposed moderator. All Letters of Application must be sent to the Africa Team at the International Bible Institute.

In order to remain enrolled in the Institute, one must remain an active student. Active students are those who are receiving and completing courses on a regular basis. All such students receive the Biblical Research Journal. This is the biblical study periodical of the Institute that is sent out to active students in the Institute. Through the Biblical Research Journal the staff of the Institute will seek to keep students informed concerning biblical studies and news of Institute events. Relevant articles on biblical studies and news releases are published in order to keep students informed concerning God's work in the lives of dedicated men throughout the world.

Tuition and Scholarships

A special scholarship fund has been established to subsidize the tuition fees of all qualified students. Scholarship funds are contributed to the Institute by dedicated Christians who seek to offer biblical training to qualified students. The funds go to the cost of the student's books and materials he receives from the Institute. Eligible foreign students, therefore, can graduate from the Institute with all tuition fees paid. The student's only expenses will be his postage costs of mailing Final Tests and assignments to the Institute. To help a student fund his course work click here.

Serious Studies for Serious Servants

The Institute operation depends on the charitable contributions of Christians who are interested in the training of preachers and church leaders who seek to edify others in Christian living. Therefore, we consider for enrollment only those students who are actively involved in the ministry of the word of God. If you are a serious servant of the Lord Jesus Christ on behalf of His body, then you are an eligible student for the International Bible Institute.
